Is hypnotherapy for panic attacks available as a method of treatment?
Yes. Hypnosis for panic attacks is an avenue of possible treatment that is available.
This is another example of something that you really should discuss in depth with your doctor or health care professional. They should be able to advise you on your own particular situation and what the best method of treatment is.
There are many professional hypnotherapists who work to enhance relaxation, and reduce panic and anxiety.
A hypnotherapist aims to retrain the body's response to stressors, and he/she may try and discover what may be triggering the panic attack itself.
They then effectively try and re-program the body's response to those triggers, usually attempting to replace a feeling of anxiety with a feeling of calm and relaxation.
There are also products available (usually available on compact disc or as an mp3) that can be purchased that are effectively forms of self-hypnosis. Some are created by licensed hypnotherapists, and others are created by other therapists and professionals.
Guided Meditations and guided imagery are a favorite for some people. With these meditations, you listen to a CD, and follow the instructions.
Usually they have some soft music playing with the instructor talking and providing the instructions.
Often times these products focus on relaxation and peaceful settings.
Guided meditation is something that I have personally enjoyed and have found that it can be effective in creating a state of relaxation.
However, I think that it's important that if you plan on using such a product, or plan on seeing a hypnotherapist you should do your research first, and then you should definitely talk to your doctor before you actually use such a product or before you actually see a hypnotherapist. Makes sense right?
