Panic Attack Symptoms
During a panic attack at least four of these panic attack symptoms will be present:
Sweating
Trembling or shaking
Accelerated heart rate or palpitations
Shortness of breath or a sense of being smothered
Fear of going crazy or of losing control
Feelings of unreality, strangeness, or detachment from the environment
Choking
Dizziness, unsteadiness, or faintness
Fear of dying
Flushes or chills
Chest pain or discomfort
Tingling sensations or numbness
Of the thousands of panic attacks that I have experienced, the most common symptoms that I experinced were: rapid heart rate, sweating (usually sweating palms) trembling, fear of not surviving, fear of losing control, and abdominal cramping.
Discover a proven solution for overcoming panic attacks
For myself, understanding the symptoms was an incredibly important part of overcoming them.
Over time I gradually began to tell myself that everything was going to be o.k., even during a panic attack. My reasoning behind that line of thinking was that the doctors had told me that I was a strong and healthy young man. My physician also told me that as unpleasant as the panic attack symptoms were that I was experiencing (especially during a full-blown attack), they would always subside. Developing an understanding of the symptoms rather than fearing them was an important first step on the road to recovery.
It is important to note: You should always talk to your doctor about any symptoms that you are experiencing and allow them to make a diagnosis of your symptoms.
This is especially true in this case, because many of these symptoms are also symptoms of more serious medical conditions.
Remember the motto of this site, "Talk to your doctor".
