hat Causes Panic Attacks?

There is currently no clear answer to the question of what causes panic attacks in the scientific community. However, research shows that there are some factors that may have an influence. Major life changes and stressors in your life might play a role.

These could be things such as:

  • Excessive stress
  • Graduating from school
  • Getting married
  • Entering the workforce
  • Birth of a baby
  • Health concerns of a family member or a loved one

In addition, genetics may also play a role.

The fight or flight response is the body's way of protecting itself from danger, real or imagined. Recent research shows that this response might be involved in panic attacks.

Most of the possible causes of panic attacks listed on this page are within our influence, with the exception of our genetics. While we cannot control all of the events in our lives, we are in the driver's seat in terms of the choices we make, how we manage stress, and our general outlook on life and the world around us. We can also choose how we respond to life events. We can influence our lifestyle, jobs, daily activities, and hobbies.
